A Founder Who Learned to Slow Down
The founder was trained in classical illustration.
But something always felt too fast—sketch, ink, color, done.
The drawing was finished before he could truly see what he was capturing.
Then one day, he tried carving a cat into acrylic.
The cat was simply stretching. Nothing grand.
But as he slowly traced the arc of its spine, over and over again,
he realized:
The blade made him watch, not just draw.
From then on, he started sketching in layers.
He studied tiny habits—
A dog’s neck when it yawns.
A cat’s eyes half-open on a windowsill.
A rabbit’s jaw twitching as it chews.
Simple things. Easy to miss.
But full of presence.
Carving in Light, Not Ink
Each Etchroom piece is a layered glass or acrylic composition,
engraved line by line and spaced with precision.
When light passes through, these lines drift and overlap, casting shadows that give depth, motion, and breath to the image.
Some lines float forward. Others stay hidden.
Like memory: some parts clear, some fading.
But always there, in their own quiet place.
As light shifts throughout the day, so does the image.
